Cody Hansen of Harley-Davidson of Florida on Motorcycle Mechanics Institute (MMI) and Industry
Cody Hansen is the Fixed Operations Director for Harley-Davidson of Florida, in charge of parts service and general merchandise departments. Cody, a graduate of Motorcycle Mechanics Institute (MMI), talks about the stability of motorcycle technician roles. Even during COVID-19, Cody says there has been a greater demand of technicians than there has been supply. In Florida, the warm climate means many people use their motorcycles as their primary form of transportation. That means the motorcycle technician role is an essential profession in the area.Cody talks about career advancement opportunities in the industry, where technicians can evolve their careers to service managers, general managers, finance managers and sales people if they choose. The key to advancing, Cody says, is to never stop learning and asking questions. For soon-to-be graduates from MMI, Cody says a great attitude and willingness to learn are key to getting hired. Cody advises those who go out on interviews to follow up with an email or phone call to thank the people who have interviewed them.Cody talks about the evolving technologies in motorcycles and how technicians these days work with computers as much as they do with hand tools. The blended learning model of hands-on and online work at MMI prepares students for how they’ll be working in the industry. For information regarding motorcycle training programs at Motorcycle Mechanics Institute, visit https://www.uti.edu/programs/motorcycleFor additional information into specific courses, tuition and admissions, see the course catalogs at https://www.uti.edu/programs/catalogsTo learn about Harley-Davidson specialized training at MMI, visit https://www.uti.edu/programs/motorcycle/specialized-training/harley-davidsonTo find the nearest UTI or MMI school near you, visit https://www.uti.edu/locationsTo stay up-to-date with some of the latest news regarding MMI, join us on social media.
